Strange Sounds in the Sky
Sky Booms Analyzed
Shocking Results

“I have been fascinated by the sky sounds appearing all over youtube and decided to do some analysis of them. What I discovered I think is really quite interesting and I just wanted to share it with you guys.
Basically, the sounds can be layered and put together to form music.
I made a youtube to explain it and listen to; it does a far better job of explaining anything I could type here.
It’s only 2 and a half minutes and I really appreciate those that take the time to view it.”
When someone on a forum told the creator of this video that all the sounds in the sky were from the War of the Worlds the person posted:
“No, that is not true, they are not from the War of the Worlds. That by the way is nothing more than a processed saw tooth oscillator (or multiples with a few cents of detuning to create width and power).
These sounds were from all over the world. Albuquerque, Russia, the UK, Canada. There were even some better examples in terms of clarity of pitch, but unfortunately there were people talking and exclaiming over the whole thing which made working with it not viable.”
Later posts:
“What I have worked REALLY hard to explain, and I have hidden nothing, is that the parts were individual sounds from the sky. I.e. the trumpet blast would blast and then there would be considerable silence. Same with the booms.
It was when I looked at them closely I noticed that the transients were similar to a lot of drum patterns, and as a composer I have worked with and seen a LOT of drum audio clips, after a while you can even read the transients and hear the rhythm in your head.
When I first saw the 2 bars of booms I could hear that it was rhythmically accurate and that is why I upped the BPM to see when it would make an exact bar match. 128 I thought was a very fascinating number for it to align on. And more so, all of the clips conformed to bar length at 128 BPM.
Now, again to explain, these are UNWARPED clips, which means that they play at the SAME speed as they did outside, just arranged.
The whole point of adjusting the BPM was so that I could see visually that these booms and notes did indeed align to musical notation in terms on 1/8th and 1/16ths.
To reiterate, the BPM adjustment DID NOT affect the speed of the initial sound because ALL warping was turned off.
So yes, in the end the parts were ARRANGED, but not how you’re thinking. Once I had the grid aligned at 128 BPM and could see the alignments it was logical to loop out the Booms 4 times (4 x 2 = 8 bars) and then listen to how it worked together with different blasts etc. from around the world.
Perhaps I’m over-explaining. My point of saying in the video that the same thing could be done with a multi-track tape recorder, or even multiple recorders, is that these sounds, when arranged musically into bars create the result that I have posted.
I recommend you put that sound through a Spectrum analyzer and you will CLEARLY see the spikes of the sawtooth oscillation.
These sounds are FULLER and are more like an actual instrument being played.
Get Audacity (which is free and part of the soucreforge program) and have a look at the waveforms for yourself. Admittedly, it does take a bit of effort in sound engineering to understand waveforms but coursera has some great courses if you really are interested in investigating the truth of this.
These sounds I got from multiple youtube videos that were compilations of sounds people recorded outside. I did my best to EQ out some clicks and chirps because, as I said, it was recorded outdoors. That ultimately is why this sounds so clean, I worked really hard to make it that way! 🙂
If you look at my video closely, you can even see the names of the youtube videos that I extracted these sounds from in the clips above the overall arrangement.
Of course there are always people that will say this is fake. It’s definitely a real phenomenon and I will concede even a little bit scary.
Simply dismissing something as “not real”,however, is potentially doing you a great disservice.
I went to a lot of effort to show in the video that the audio I used was UNWARPED (NOT QUANTIZED) and conformed to musical notation in the form of note and bar length.
I also show a picture of the arrangement where you can see the unwarped clips being placed into the arrangement.
It seems like a warning and it has affected me to a point, I am more seriously prepping and gathering supplies than I ever have before.”
